What is an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)?
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is an official document that shows how energy‑efficient a building is. It includes:
- A graphic rating from A to G (A = very efficient, G = inefficient)
- A recommendations report with cost‑effective improvements
- An estimate of the building’s potential rating if upgrades are implemented
The EPC rating is based on the building’s construction, insulation, heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, and overall energy performance. Factors such as age, size, location, and condition of the building also affect the final rating.
When is an EPC required?
An EPC is required in Cyprus when:

How long is an EPC valid?

How often should an Air Conditioning Inspection be carried out?
In Cyprus:
- AC systems over 12 kW must be inspected every 5 years
- AC systems with total building capacity over 50 kW must also be inspected every 5 years
The first inspection must take place 5 years after installation, followed by inspections at 5‑year intervals.
